What Our Clients Are Saying
“I had an excellent experience with this firm. They were very respectful of my time and of my situation.”Jason (Google)
“Russ Cope spent individual time with us and took the effort to explain things and answer all of our questions.”Paul (Avvo)
Focused on Bankruptcy Law
Founded by bankruptcy attorney Russ Cope, our practice is focused solely on bankruptcy representation. Lawyers who include bankruptcy in a multi-practice firm may lack the knowledge necessary in this complex area of law. Bankruptcy is not something that should be practiced as an aside. Too many people have received bad advice from attorneys who do not fully understand bankruptcy and its implications on foreclosure, employment, divorce and assets.
We provide experienced representation for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy as well as small-business bankruptcy. We will review your finances and make suggestions based on your goals. Meeting with us is a first step towards financial rehabilitation, but it does not mean you are necessarily going to enter the bankruptcy system. In many cases, we recommend bankruptcy alternatives for our clients. If you do choose to file, you will receive the protection of the automatic stay, a court ordered injunction that prevents creditors from contacting you or attempting to collect while your case is pending.
As of March 27th, Ohio’s homestead exemption increased to $125,000. In prior years, the Ohio legislature only allowed $21,625 of equity in a home to be protected from creditors. For more information, see: Ohio’s Homestead Exemption Just Got a Lot Bigger!
Regardless of where you’re located in Ohio, the cost of filing a bankruptcy case is the same. Filing fees for chapter 7 bankruptcy are $335 and filing a chapter 13 costs $310. These fees are paid to the Bankruptcy Court and do not include the cost of hiring a bankruptcy lawyer.
